Here’s how we helped one of our best customers save time, and improve their washroom environment, all without extra costs…
Like many businesses these days, the Whitfield Group (a property management company based near Cambridge) has better things to do with their time than worry about whether their washrooms are well managed.
However, their staff had other ideas. Janet kept on finding new ways to moan about things like; no soap in the dispensers, no toilet rolls in the cubicles and a really bad odour coming from the gents as she walked past in the corridor. In fact, anything she could think of regarding the washrooms, she would always moan.
That was when Victoria from the Whitfield Group called us. We surveyed the building, which was about 100 years old, with many floors and different toilets on each floor.
Their main problem was one of time to devote to the subject. Victoria was very busy “multi-tasking” as many of us do these days. She didn’t really have a real understanding of what was available to companies like hers to help manage these problems.
She’d tried asking the cleaners to help. But cleaners being cleaners, they only have time to do the bits they can in the given time they have and…well you know how it is with cleaners.
How we did it…
So we set about transforming her washrooms.
Firstly, we installed brand new foot pedal operated sanitary bins, which helps to cut down on cross contamination and the spread of germs.
The liner system we use means the bin stays on site, and we clean it every time we call to service it. With our 4 weekly service schedule they now have more visits, in fact 13 times per year, with documented evidence of the call left at reception and signed for by one of her team.
Secondly, to help with the bad odours coming from the men’s toilets we installed a cost effective urinal “sani-sleeve”.
This sleeve goes in place of the urinal “rose” (where the water gets flushed away) and gives off a pleasant fragrance every time water passes over it. It also acts as a deterrent for uric acid collecting in the u-bend as the biocide inside the unit kills bacteria.
Thirdly, we installed brand new soap dispensers that we maintain. Every 4 weeks, when we service the sanitary bins, we top-up the soap dispensers with fresh soap and clean up as we go.
And lastly, we installed brand new mini jumbo dispensers for the toilet roll. This “System Toilet Tissue” is far more effective than conventional toilet roll when it comes to cost control as each roll has the equivalent of 10 ordinary toilet rolls in each mini jumbo roll.
With 12 rolls in a case, they never run out of toilet tissue as the cleaners can top up as they clean.
Victoria has now asked us to install automatic air fresheners in each of the washrooms, just to finish off the effect and make each visit a pleasant experience.
